GET TO KNOW US!

WHO WE ARE:

The Bento Box is run by a small business, Yes Foods — Woodstock: an online-based food delivery service that specializes in gourmet cooking. Nourishing the bellies of our neighbors and friends is what we do best, as we —the folks who operate YFW— have been feeding our community for upwards of two decades. We rent the kitchen space at the old Zena Elementary School, so each meal is locally made, from our cafeteria to yours.

HOW IT WORKS:

Ordering begins Friday morning, when the new menu drops.
Parents have up until Sunday noon to order. Any orders place after the deadline will be automatically cancelled and refunded by our system, unless you have contacted us beforehand.

Lunch options include a classic bagged lunch (choice sandwich, fruit, and organic snack), a Mediterranean platter, or hot lunch — which will vary per day. We also have a la carte options available, to cater to pickier eaters.
Most items are available in two sizes, Little Folks or Bigger Kids.

ABOUT THE FOOD:

We do our best to use only locally sourced and/or organic produce. During off-months, we gather the best available resources. All our meats and seafoods are humanely raised and sustainably sourced. All of our soups are made from scratch and our cookies are homemade with only quality ingredients. Food served from our kitchen is packaged in and with eco-friendly containers and utensils

ALLERGY DISCLAIMER:

Although we use no nuts in the making of any products for the Bento Box, we do have nuts (and other allergens) present in our kitchen and we can not guarantee that there is no cross-contamination. If your child has severe allergies to wheat, nuts, dairy, soy, or shellfish, we can not be held responsible for any allergic reactions.
Please feel free to email us with any concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions:

CAN I ORDER ON THE SAME DAY?

No, this is a preorder system. You must order by Sunday noon for the following week. As all lunches are made to order, we cannot guarantee fulfillment on orders made outside of the allotted time slot.

CAN I ORDER FOR MULTIPLE KIDS?

We ask that it is one kid per checkout.
We only ask this because it helps keep our kitchen organized.

CAN I CANCEL MY ORDER?

We require at least 24—hour notice for cancellations unless, in case of emergencies, which we will handle on a case-by-case basis.

WHAT IF MY KID WASN’T SATISFIED WITH THEIR MEAL?

If your child is unhappy with the food, please contact us via email and we will do our best to rectify the situation. However, we are unable to replace food immediately. If there is ever an issue with food service, please let us know as soon as possible.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE’S A SNOW DAY?

YFW reserves the right to cancel food service if an incoming storm is imminent, even if WDS does choose to open in the morning. In those instances, parents will be refunded for the meals purchased on that day. We will always make a call to close if inclement weather is to be expected, and we will immediately notify parents by email.

CAN I MAKE A SUGGESTION?

We are always open to any and all comments, suggestions, and recommendations!
Please e-mail yesfoodswoodstock@gmail.com ATTN: WDS BENTO BOX.

Feeding people is not new to us, but this certainly is. As WDS’s first lunch program, this is new territory to not only us, but to you — the parents — and the school. We strive to serve your children to the best of our ability and are learning as we go.

WHAT’S A BENTO BOX?

A bento box, or simply bento, is a single-portioned, packaged meal — usually from a take-out place or brought from home. While the word itself is Japanese, the concept of bento is not exclusive to Japan, as we see this phenomena across East and Southeast Asia but are called by different words. Bentos are usually as aesthetically pleasing as they are filling!

WHY THE COW?

Our landlord has at least eight Scottish Highland cows, who live on the property where we work. This is our way to honor our mighty friends. At the end of each work day, we collect cow-friendly scraps (e.g. lettuce, red tomatoes, watermelon rinds) and feed them to our mascots. The cows love it and we are promoting low-waste!

CAN WE SEE THE COWS?

Unfortunately, you may not visit the cows because the school is on private property. However, we will be uploading new pics and videos of our super cool Highland Cows regularly to keep you all up to date!
